One of the major goals of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences is to integrate current research topics in the teaching curriculum. Outstanding students are involved in ongoing research projects at an early stage in their undergraduate studies. This helps attract excellent researchers, strengthen the natural sciences, and increase the visibility of the Faculty.
Within the Measure “Strengthening the Natural Sciences,” all five departments of the Faculty received financial resources for so-called Undergraduate Funds.
The Undergraduate Funds were mainly used for undergraduate students, starting in the second semester. However, funding was also available for students in Master's programs.
Funding was allocated for stipends, in particular for participation in conferences and summer schools, and for lab equipment. Students were also given the opportunity to carry out individual research projects.
